On May 20 and 21, over 200 leaders from across the country attended the Canadian Vote Summit 2025 in Montreal, hosted by The Democratic Engagement Exchange.
2025 was a year for reflection and renewal in Canadian democracy. Fresh off a federal election, leaders from across sectors gathered at the Canadian Vote Summit to tackle the challenges facing our institutions—from declining trust and political polarization to disinformation and the growing impact of AI on engagement. Over two days, 200+ participants, including policymakers, journalists, academics, election officials, and community organizers, explored how to strengthen democratic governance, foster inclusive participation, and build trust at every level of society. The Summit highlighted that democracy is not self-sustaining: it relies on collaboration, community-rooted engagement, and storytelling that inspires collective action. CVS 2025 reaffirmed a shared commitment to a vibrant, accessible, and resilient democracy, setting the stage for continued innovation and impact in 2026.
