The Canadian Vote summit (CVS)

The Canadian Vote Summit is Canada’s only non-partisan, national summit focused on electoral democracy. The Summit addresses the challenges facing our democracy nationally by fostering cross-sector collaboration to build solutions that enable Canada’s democratic institutions to earn trust and confidence.

We at the Democratic Engagement Exchange host this event to provide a unique space for leaders, policymakers, academia, and civil society organizations to collaborate on ensuring elections drive responsive, inclusive governance

The Summit tends to be a 2-day event, with a new theme selected every year (in 2026, the CVS theme is From Divide to Dialogue). The annually changing theme informs the Summit’s programming, but topics in the past have included:

  • election modernization

  • election integrity

  • problematizing voter turnout

  • strengthening belongingness

  • trust in institutions

  • political representation

  • misinformation and disinformation

“The Canadian Vote Summit was an excellent conference - necessary, informative and interesting; what a great opportunity to meet folks working cross-sectorally.”

-2023 CVS attendee

CVS typically attracts 250+ attendees, including:

  • Senior government officials with representation from the federal, provincial and municipal government;

  • C-suite executives from all sectors;

  • Internationally renowned journalists, academics and community leaders;
