Voice the Vote helps people use their voice, show up to vote, and shape their city in the municipal election on October 26th, 2026. We do this by working with trusted community organizations and local leaders to help people across Toronto, Peel, and York Region experience elections as a way to shape the communities they care about.
We are hiring Thirteen Field Staff who will be the community connectors and grassroots leaders behind Voice the Vote. We will also be providing one month of leadership development focused on community organizing and campaign skills. See job description below.
These are part-time positions based in the Greater Toronto Area, running from August to October 2026 at an average of 20 hours per week. Compensation is $22 per hour.
Our application deadline is July 20th, 2026, but we encourage you to apply early, as applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Interviews will be conducted in July.

Field Staff

Field Staff are community connectors and grassroots leaders behind Voice the Vote, a civic participation initiative by The Democratic Engagement Exchange and United Way Greater Toronto.
Voice the Vote helps people use their voice, show up to vote, and shape their city in the municipal election on October 26th, 2026. We do this by working with trusted community organizations and local leaders to help people across Toronto, Peel, and York Region experience elections as a way to shape the communities they care about.
Through outreach, events, and grassroots engagement, Field Staff help create welcoming and meaningful opportunities for people to participate in civic life and connect with others in their community. Working alongside local organizations, volunteers, and residents, they help people better understand how local government shapes their daily lives and how they can have a say in the future of their communities.
As part of this role, Field Staff will participate in a month-long leadership development program focused on community organizing and campaign skills, gaining hands-on experience in volunteer engagement, facilitation, outreach, and grassroots mobilization.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain relationships with residents, community organizations, and local leaders through meaningful and respectful engagement.
Engage residents in conversations about civic participation, local issues, and the changes they want to see in their communities.
Recruit, train, support, and coordinate volunteers to strengthen local outreach and engagement efforts.
Co-organize and support community events, workshops, and engagement activities alongside community partners.
Facilitate discussions, presentations, trainings, and activities in welcoming and inclusive ways.
Capture community feedback, stories, and outreach data to help identify emerging priorities and measure impact.
Maintain accurate records of engagement activities and submit timely reports and updates.
Share observations, insights, and community perspectives with campaign leadership to inform ongoing strategies.
Qualifications
Interest in strengthening their local community through civic participation, community engagement, advocacy, or social impact initiatives.
Comfortable initiating conversations and engaging residents from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
Interest in planning and co-organizing community events, workshops, or engagement activities.
Confidence facilitating discussions, delivering presentations, leading trainings, or speaking to groups, or a willingness to develop these skills through training and practice.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to accurately document outreach activities, community feedback, and stories.
Experience recruiting, coordinating, mentoring, or supporting volunteers, peers, or community members is considered an asset.
Fluency in languages commonly spoken across Toronto, Peel, and York Region is considered an asset.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
