On May 20, Richard V. Reeves spoke to the challenges facing boys and men in modern society, the social and economic consequences of inequality, and policy approaches to fostering inclusion and opportunity.

A leading public intellectual, bestselling author, and president of the American Institute for Boys & Men, Richard V. Reeves is widely recognized for his incisive analyses of class, race, gender, health, and family life. His books, including Dream Hoarders and Of Boys and Men, have been hailed by The New York Times, The Economist, and President Obama, offering landmark insights into contemporary social dynamics. Reeves is also a non-resident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and Chair of the UK Institute for Boys and Men, shaping public discourse and informing policy on issues of inequality and social opportunity.

On May 20, Hahrie Han spoke to the importance of relational political participation, the role of community in fostering democratic engagement, and strategies to strengthen trust and inclusion in electoral democracy.

A leading scholar of political science and inaugural director of the SNF Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University, Hahrie Han is an award-winning author and expert on civic engagement, social movements, and collective action. Her latest book, published in 2024, examines faith and race in America and was recognized on the New York Times’ 100 Notable Books of the Year list and the New Yorker’s Recommended Books for 2024. Widely published in outlets including the New York Times, Washington Post, and leading academic journals, Han has received numerous honors for her scholarship and leadership, including election to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and recognition as a 2022 Social Innovation Thought Leader of the Year by the World Economic Forum.
